Circle your calendars and save the dates! The highly anticipated 2024 Bathurst Agricultural Show is rolling into town from March 22-24, promising to be a standout event that’s not to be missed. Neil Scott, the enthusiastic show president, teases that this year’s gathering will blend the cherished traditions of the Bathurst Agricultural Show (BAS) with an array of fresh, engaging experiences.
This year, the showgrounds have seen significant enhancements, including crucial updates to water supply systems and restroom facilities, ensuring a comfortable and seamless experience for all attendees. These improvements set the stage for a show that’s both rooted in tradition and forward-looking.
The rearrangement of stalls and activity zones, including a new country market section, offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in a marketplace buzzing with fresh produce and artisanal crafts. This thoughtful reorganization invites exploration and discovery at every turn.
Navigating the show will be smoother this year, thanks to revised parking plans that separate exhibitor and public areas, efficiently managed by local sports clubs. With ticket prices set at R85 for adults, R50 for pensioners, R60 for children under 16, and R250 for a family of four, it’s an event that promises inclusivity and fun for the whole family.
For those looking to deepen their connection with the event, the Friend of the Bathurst Agricultural Society option is an enticing offer. For R150, you gain free entry to the show and enjoy a suite of benefits, making it an attractive option for regular attendees.
The show is set to be a haven for families, featuring a supervised crèche for the little ones and a variety of child-focused entertainment options. It’s clear that the organizers are dedicated to creating an environment where every family member, regardless of age, can find joy and entertainment.
Our local media partner, Talk of the Town, in collaboration with the BAS marketing team, is excited to guide you through the highlights and beloved traditions of this year’s show in the weeks to come. From ‘Expo’-style and ‘Browsable’ stalls to livestock displays, equestrian events, and an eclectic mix of entertainment—including performances by the Sunshine Rockers, Dave Brunette, and school bands—there’s something for everyone.
Not to be overlooked are the unique events planned for this year, such as the Woody Cape wildlife auction, the Safire-sponsored lawnmower race, and the adrenaline-pumping Pig & Whistle Power Jump event, among others. The Bathurst Agricultural Museum’s activities and the Pineapple Association’s insights add layers of educational fun to the show’s rich tapestry.
