CANNON ROCKS

Welcome to our village by the sea.

OUR STORY

Cannon Rocks is a small secluded and tranquil village along the Sunshine Coast of the Eastern Cape, South Africa. The warm Indian Ocean breaks with characteristic creating characteristic features unique to our dune filled coastline.

Our Western border is the Woody Cape Section of the Greater Addo Elephant National Park and the village of Boknes is located on our Eastern border. The village is 135 km to the east of Port Elizabeth and 180 km west of East London off the R72. Our nearest town is Kenton-on-Sea about 15 minutes drive and Port Alfred 30 km to the East of Cannon Rocks.

The village was named after 2 cannons of historical importance and is close to Diaz Cross, erected 5 centuries ago by Bartholomew Diaz who was the first Portuguese explorer to sail along the eastern coast of South Africa.

Bird Island, where the endangered African Penguin and Cape Gannets breed, shows off its lighthouse in clear weather on our western boundary.

We experience a very moderate climate and Cape Padrone on our eastern border within the Woody Cape Section of the Greater Elephant National Park, is a major marker in terms of weather forecasts.

Our relaxed village life, far from the madding crowd and being surrounded by natural bush and wildlife makes it an ideal holiday venue for those seeking a place to unwind and find their inner peace.

Nearest petrol station: Boknes or Kenton-on-Sea.

We are serviced by a small shop at the Cannon Rocks Holiday Resort & Caravan Park. For more variety you can visit the 2 supermarkets- in Boknes or proceed to Kenton-on-Sea.
